As I was going through my research notes from the last year I noticed some common trends in the holidays I researched for Digby O’Flannagan’s Year of Celebrations logs.  I have collected these observations into a single document and, for completeness sake, I will release them here for all those that have been following these logs.  These notes were also added to the notes section of the collected logs known as A Year of Celebrations: A Year in the Human Lands so if you have purchased that book these notes are redundant but, for those that have bought the individual logs as they came out, this completes the set.

A Year of Celebrations Notes

For those that have not read one of Digby’s logs, each product in the Year of Celebrations line chronicles the traditions and histories of a collection of holidays found throughout the land.  Additionally, further annotation is provided by Digby in the form of advice for performers and merchants.  For the more scholarly (read: Game Masters) I have provided a collection of notes giving advice on how to use the presented holidays in your game and several plot hooks for each holiday.

Clawing its way up from the grave like a hungry zombie, Healing Fireball Publications lurches free of the scythe of death and returns with a vengeance.  It has been a full year since I last posted on this blog and almost a full two months since we posted a new product.  A lot has happened to this company in that time and I do apologize for the missing Faire and Con reports but unfortunately we were not able to make many faires this summer.  I shall hopefully recap the few faires we attended and other interesting happenings in later belated reports.

But now on to the update:  with Halloween approaching, we fittingly shamble back to  life with a candy and mischief-themed product The Sages Must be Crazy: Tricky Treats.  This latest lighter-side-of-gaming product concentrates on candy and sweet-themed spells and items with a mischievous twist.  Additionally, watch for our Halloween bonus products, free on this site: each one contains items that can’t be found in any of our other products.

Additionally, we will be continuing the Two Bit Tables collection of mundane encounters by environment, with locations like swamp and jungle coming.  I am still fine tuning that collection of religious-themed Just Add Dice books and will have them out soon.  Finally, watch this site for more free bonus items in the months to come.  Roaring back to life with a vengeance, your friends at Healing Fireball Publications.

I realize that the posts of this blog are still sporadic and that we have not posted a product for a while.  Unfortunately, instead of getting lighter, work has gotten even more hectic.  I was gearing up for two presentations I will be doing at professional conferences in June as well as gearing up for a final push to finish my doctorate work.  So, sadly, it looks like this lull may continue for a while.

As for actual work for Healing Fireball Publications, I have managed to make a collection of tables for several Just Add Dice products centered around religion.   However, these tables need to be finalized and descriptions need to be added, which is harder than it sounds.  Particularly, laying out the tables in a way that is consistent and makes sense.  So you’ll be seeing these products soon – watch this space.

Looking at the blog I realized that the last time there was a post on this blog was all the way back in November.  Add to that our lack of publishing lately and it’s no wonder people have been asking, “Where has Healing Fireball Publishing gone?”  The answer to this question is that we are still around and I am plugging away at new material.  I know that I posted on several forums that Healing Fireball Publications was back and that we had a site update and several products in the works and then we only published sporadically and the site has stayed the same.  The truth is unfortunately the rest of my life has gotten in the way as I am preparing a manuscript about my research at work and it has been eating up my time.

Never fear, though, as the completion of this work draws to an end and whenever I have a moment I have been working on several new Just Add Dice projects and I still have several Two Bit Tables and other products lined up for when I have more time.  The web page overhaul has been slow but I am working on it and hope to have it finished soon.  As for the blog we are once again approaching the summer and the faire and con season.  I hope to post more of our faire and con reports soon.  I am also still trying to get my wife to post some descriptions of her trip to Ireland.  Well, that is where we stand right now; we here at Healing Fireball Publishing would like to thank our fans for being patient with us.

To start this update on our web page and the blog I would like to give my wife Carol the many thanks she deserves for the redesign of the main web page and the product page as well as her continuing work on designing the store front at RPGNow. So again thanks goes to my wife for all the work that has been done and probably all the work that will be done.

Now on to the updates. The main Healing Fireball page has had a new blog icon added to it, making a more permanent link to the blog and removing the small link that was easily missed. The product catalog page has finally been completely redesigned to be more user-friendly. The main page has been better designed with a nicer visual appearance, while the subcategories have been better organized into grouped tables under the different broad categories. As for the store front at RPGNow, we have finally added the subcategories to the main page allowing you to view all the products in a single line at the same time. Also my wife completed the massive task of linking all the related products together through links on their description page. We hope this makes the web pages more useful and easier to navigate.

As for the continuing work on the web page we our hoping to get the long-awaited form up and running and to place a link similar to the blog link on the front page. Work is also continuing to utilize all the tools that RPGNow offers to make the store front more useful to our customers. As for the often-ignored child of Healing Fireball’s web page, the blog, I am still unfortunately unable to post on a more regular basis because of my other job’s workload. I will, however, try to put more effort into this part of the web page. To start I have plans to update the links section with more Faire and Con links as well as add a Friends of Healing Fireball section for some miscellaneous links. I also do hope to get the long awaited At Our Table category up and running to give you a glimpse at our own games. Second, I will be hopefully making more entries in the Faire and Con Reports section in September and October. Finally, I will be announcing a new blog category known as Wandering Fireball. This category will be a travelogue like the Faire and Con Reports, but this new category will be for more general travels. This new category will also have an associated links section where any links to the visited places will go. So until next time –

Once again I realize that it has been a long time since I have done one of these so I figured it was about time I gave you all an update. So to start this update I will apologize for the lack of blog posts. Unfortunately, life has gotten hectic lately and I haven’t had time to make many posts. For those of you wondering about our faire and con reports I have been unable to attend many of the usual faires and cons but I promise there will be updates as we attend faires in September and October. I will as last time also say that I have reached all of the goals that I set in my last update. Both the Combat Cards line and the Two Bit Tables line have been very successful and I have expanded them with many new titles. Also I am proud to say that it is finally here – I have completed the long-awaited Just Add Dice: Tavern Alcohol, Wine and Drink List Generator.

As for my current projects there is both good news here and bad news. The good news is that I have gotten a lot of work on the Two Bit Tables line and a new Just Add Dice product mostly finished so as these products come out of editing and get finalized they will be released. As for the bad news I will not be able to do much more for a while as I am in the process of beginning to write a paper for my other job as a research biologist. So unfortunately my productivity may be down for a while as I work on that project. So until next time –

Greetings All,

This is Flash here, bringing you the up-to-date news from the Western Front. Healing Fireball Publications currently has a number of products being developed simultaneously and The Healer was kind enough to start the ball rolling, so I am here to tell you about some more of the products you can look forward to being released soon by HFP.

In the Curious Items line, work is being done on three separate products: “Gentlemen’s Magic Items” dealing with alternate magic items for socially oriented games; “Goggles and Eyewear” for all your enchanted optical needs; and “Scarves” because let’s face it, if your character isn’t rocking a scarf, he or she isn’t looking their best.

These three projects are closest to completion, but keep an eye out here for another update soon, including information on a new product line: Mythos.
